Green tea: the most healthy beverage

Have you ever drunk Green tea? What do you know about its healthy benefits?    Is it worth drinking it?                                                                                                     This variety of tea comes from the Camellia Sinensis Plant  which grows in China. From this species are harvested more than 50 different varieties of teas. The differences from one to another are ascribed to the process which all the different types of teas go through. In the process of Green tea, leaves and leaf buds are taken prematurely from the plant in order to get a very-low level of oxidation in the tea. That is really important for the beverage, given that premature harvest keeps the natural benefits of the plant.

Green tea has caught the attention of the scientific world, which has conducted many researches throughout the years. Because of that, many other properties of the Chinese tea itself have been discovered -- as well as its components, such as: zinc, vitamin C, L- Theanine, among others.

  -         2005, Case Western Reserve University:  Antioxidants in Green tea reduces the impact of rheumatoid arthritis on elderly people.                                                                                                        -         2005, AJCM:  Consuming Green tea for 12 weeks, reduces fat and It might prevent obesity and related diseases.
 -        2006, Tohoku University:  5 or more daily cups of Green tea reduce mortality due to all causes, in a 16 %. Also, it reduces the risk of a cardiovascular disease in a 26 %.

  1. As I wrote in Catalina’s entry, tea in general is awesome and green tea is cool because of all its properties!

I didn’t know the name of the plant which produces these kinds of tea, really, or maybe I had forgotten it. But, I know this plant, Camellia Sinensis, started to be cultivated in other tropical regions of the world in order to expand the traffic of tea; so, China is not the only country that produces tea anymore.

    1. It happened because of tea worldwide spread, then many other countries have cultivated the plant. From camellia sinensis tea is born itself, and from there are taken the varieties mentioned above.

  2. I read somewhere that green tea also increase your metabolism, which means that makes your body gets nutrients in a better way. I always like it because after drink it, I can feel myself a little bit relax.

I'm lactose intolerant and almost all the time I have troubles with my stomach, green tea had helped me to stop abdominal paint almost all the time. After reading your article I'm going to encourage my mom to drink it too, because she has arthritis problems.

And maybe that's the reason why asian people stay alive for so many time and in good conditions.

  3. A cup of hot green tea is relaxing; a glass of ice green tea, with lemon, is refreshing, but to drink too much tea can be risky. A cup of green tea has as much as cafeine as a cup of coffee, and for people with high-blood-pressure desease can be dangerous. Doctors recomend to drink no more than 6 cups of tea per day. On the other hand, tea in general prevents the absortion of iron, that may cause anaemia. However, if you drink it moderately, I agree with you that it is a great berverage.

  4. I didn't know that you were such a devoted fan of green tea, just kidding. It's amazing how a beverage can change people's health and attitude towards life. I have the incorrect thought that green tea is for women only, but well after reading your explanations, maybe I'll give it a try one of these days.
