The real price of being alive

Being pregnant is one of the most important and beautiful things in a woman’s life –at least for some of them-, but have you ever think how much it cost nowadays, taking into account that every technology has a high price? And what is even more inevitable and sad: death. You might think that you just missed your beloved person, and there’s nothing else to be worry, but the truth is that also, it’s a high price to pay.

I’ve never taken a moment to think about it, until the other day when my brother talked to me about it. He was reading “La segunda” online, and there is mentioned some prices, for instance to give birth goes from $879.520 (public system) to $5.000.000 (private system).
So, this unique and wonderful moment can turn into a headache if your pocket is not prepared. Meanwhile to have a funeral service with all including goes from $551.500 (public one) to $13.954.846 (private one).

As you can see, these moments are very expensive, differing so much from the public to the private it because of the comfort, the quality delivered, etc.

I guess that nothing is really free in life, from the very beginning you (in the case of birth, your parents) have to spend a huge amount of money, then when you go to school, to buy food, if you got sick , and finally when you die (again, someone else has to spend some money).

I’m sure you are wondering, so what’s the link with technology?  Simple, the connection is that everything we have in our lives is made/prone/manufactured etc through, and thanks, technology, and just as we have read in several entries, costs a huge price. So if you want to be part of it, you will have to able to empty your pocket.

What do you think about this numbers? Is it fair that money is still a barrier to achieve technological development? Keep in mind; I’m not talking about fancy stuffs, but things that are essential for all human beings.

  2. In my opinion, Dominique, essential things of life shouldn't be for free but it should be low cost. Maybe the government or some kind of entity could finance a part of the funeral (or the birth) and in that way make it cheaper to the families. It shouldn't be a problem to bring someone to the world considering that our population is getting older with every generation. It's a matter of common sense
