Are we getting addicted to mobile phones?

In 2012, there were 22 million of cell phones in Chile, which has turned us into the country with most cellular phone users in Latin America. And it will not be surprising that the figures continue increasing since each day that passes, new and better applications are being incorporated to seduce their consumers.

For that reason, nowadays, people are willing to pay huge sum of money for a Smartphone, a mobile phone which has been designed with the purpose of fulfilling the needs of modern users. That means being more than an appliance for oral communication.

Currently, the new generation of cell phones provides us with more technological tools than in the past; in fact, most of them include browsers for navigation, high-quality photo and video cameras, programs for music reproduction, and video games. In addition to that, they count with touch screens, which make them more sophisticated.

The main problem with modern mobile phones is that they are really distracting devices and do not allow their users to be focus on their daily activities. Indeed, it is really typical to see that the person with who you are talking about is not paying attention to what you are saying since she is checking her email through her I-phone, is not it?

So, the best option for those who easily fall in procrastination is to buy a traditional cell phone.

  1. You got a point there, Paula. It is annoying when suddenly notification iphone sound shakes everyone in a silent situation, such as a test.

None is being taken seriously if the other you are with is with one of those i-whatever (god, I'm figuring out what model is fancy right now; the thing is that the person is more concerned with what happens in the net and not in the interaction between you.

I wonder, if iphones of whatever expensive device of showing off dissappeared, wouldn't it be the birth of a new product? consumist people are the problem, neither is technology the problem nor executives who plan these stuff.
