Should we be afraid of the collateral effects of wi-fi?

Currently, we can have access to The Net from every place of our university since many wireless internet routers have been strategically located for this purpose, which is marvellous since it gives us the possibility of doing our homework in more comfortable places, such as in the gardens or in the cafeteria. But is this continuous exposition to the electromagnetic radiation of the wi-fi harmful for us?
In Europe, more and more social organizations are concern for the apparent risks that the use of this technology might cause to our personal safety--strong headaches, nauseas, vomits, and even cancer. For that reason, during the last years, they have been working hard: presenting scientific studies and documentary evidence against it with the aim of raising political consciousness.
Consequently, in countries like France and Germany, the use of wi-fi connection in schools and public spaces is absolutely banned by the law.
On the other hand, the communication enterprises that supply this service defend themselves arguing that there is no scientific support for such health alert. Indeed, they affirm that the radiation waves of this wireless appliances do not exceed the legal limit established. So there should not be problems.
In this sense, it is really difficult to make an informed decision about whether it is dangerous or not to use wi-fi in our homes since all the arguments available regarding this interrogation are not conclusive. So it is up to you. I can just say that it is better to prevent than cure.

  1. The same situation happens with the cell phones antennas. The researches that were conducted revealed that the exposition to the radiation cause health problems.
If the radiation resulted to be similar in both cases, everybody would be in serious danger.

  2. I think that whenever you use wireless devices, there are some risks you are exposed to, and wi-fi is no exception to this rule. It is obvious that companies will not believe researches even if they are conclusive. However, governments can give some money to study this phenomenon and fix it so that it can be secure for people who have less resistance to radiation.
