SANGUINARIA

Regarding the extended period I’ve been alone—I split up with someone a couple of years ago and since then I’ve never dated nobody in a formal way--I’ve decided to do something about it in order change my love life situation, which has always been a complete disaster, I must say. For that reason, my mom—the greatest heroine of all times—has encouraged me to try with alternative medicine—Yes, again!— to improve my physical appearance and see if someone become interested in me…again.

Needless to say, my mother has always been used to try with alternative medicine in order to provide a solution to everything since she had been taught to do it by my grandmother when she was a child. As they lived in the farm, they used to be surrounded by different kinds of herbs, flowers and thousands of thousands of trees. But, as my mom told me, there was one among all of these species that had some secret healing and beauty properties I find very interesting to share with you—just in case you attempt to find someone as I do!

According to some researches, SANGUINARIA (Bloodroot), the name in Spanish of this herb, grows in the spring and summer months, producing a red sap that has been used in herbal medicine for centuries. It affects, chiefly, the mucous membranes, especially of the respiratory tract. It has also marked vaso-motor disturbances, as seen in the circumscribed redness of the cheeks, flashes of heat, determination of blood to head and chest, distention of temporal veins, burning in palms and soles, and has been found very applicable to climacteric disorders.

Taking into account my mom’s opinion, she also sustains that if someone made a mix of SANGUINARIA with other herbs, it would be a very effective laxative—I really have a strong possibility to lose weight! Moreover, there is a component inside of its leaves which provides a significant amount of antimicrobial activity and may be an ingredient in some herbal toothpastes and mouth rinses—Now I understand why I have white teeth and a shiny smile!

Let’s see if someone could resist to my new sex-appeal after taking it for a while!

Have a look on this video and see how the real herb looks like!

Would you try to take this herb? Do you like some of the properties it's got?

Alternative Medicine 1/ Conventional Medicine 0

I have read different posts defending the qualities of the Alternative medicine in this Blog and I completely agree with most of them since I strongly believe conventional medicine and drugs itself represent a potential problem to our heath. I’d like to expand the possibilities that have been presented by my classmates with a new discovery (at least for me) in the field of alternative medicine; I’m talking about Tibetan Mushrooms or Tibicos.
Dried Tibetan Mushrooms

According to the legend, it is believed that Mother Teresa of Calcutta spread these mushrooms around the world after obtained them from a group of Tibetan Monks; you are not supposed to sell them because the miracle of drinking the water comes from the "gift" of having them: once you have enough you should give a part of it to someone else.

The benefits of consuming Tibicos are infinite (including fighting against obesity, headaches, cholesterol, cancer, etc); for this reason, a friend tried to get them for such a long time. Finally he received some of them and now he has been drinking the product of their fermentation for a month. He drinks it every single day early in the morning and before go to bed and, according to his experience and some stories I read on the Internet, I can say that they actually work. Is healthier drinking this water to prevent some diseases than having pills to cure them (and become addict to them). I read a story about a woman who stopped her treatment against cancer and drank Tibicos; at the end, she was heal without facing the side effects of these treatments. As this story you can find more searching on the internet so, why not to try them?

Once you have your Tibicos, you just have to give them sugary water (you can use chancaca) every 24 or 48 hours. After that period of time, drain them and drink the water. Easy, isn’t it?

Had you heard about Tibetan Mushrooms before? Do you know any other Alternative Medicine?

Bach Flowers: Self-healing

Do you believe in alternative medicine? If you don’t, just wait to read this personal confession.

Two years ago, I had to face one of the hardest moments in my life –I’m not going to provide the details, because I do not consider it appropriate— so, I was encouraged by my friend, Fernanda, to try alternative medicine in order to deal with the depression I was going through. From this situation, I was introduced to the world of Bach Flowers.

Basically, Bach Flowers are dilutions of flower material, which were developed by an English bacteriologist, Edward Bach, intended for emotional and spiritual purposes. It is said that Bach classified 38 flowers from which he extracted 38 different essences. These essences are supposed to contain the vibration or energy of the flower which can be transmitted to the person who tastes it, leading to self-healing.

In my case, after an interview with a practitioner of this field, I was given an antidote made of 5 different essences and I was told to take five droplets each day for a month. At the very beginning, I hadn’t noticed any change –honestly—but then, when the time passed by, I felt somehow different, but I’m unable to explain those feelings with words. I just simply recovered the energy I used to have, I didn’t feel hurt anymore and finally I was in peace with myself.

What do you think of my experience? Would you try this kind of alternative medicine?

Marijuana’s legalization: an endless fight

For several years, it has existed a constantly struggle about cannabis’s legalization. Nowadays, there isn’t any country where pot is 100% legal although some states allow people to consume and to cultivate marijuana for personal consumption. Despite the moral consequences that the completely legalization of this drug could bring to any existing society, the medical benefits and the cultural power that marijuana has is even stronger.
The main reason that cannabis users give in order to legalize marijuana, it is because the existence of numerous studies where have proven medical benefits in THC, the main component of this drug. It is also very important to think about the culture behind marijuana. Being a very harmless substance, much less than tobacco and alcohol, marijuana has a peace message. As the leading effect is to slow down almost every muscle of your body, the main consumers of this drug are commonly very peaceful.
It was very strange that looking for reasons against legalizing marijuana, I could only find moral motivations for not allowing the free consume of this drug. There are not scientific facts to assert that marijuana is a bad drug and a harmful one. I believe for that reason it has been so controversial and difficult to reach an agreement about if we have to legalize it or not. And what do you think about this?
