Is the male contraceptive pill a good idea?

For decades the woman has been in charge of taking a contraceptive pill in order to prevent undesired pregnancy…until now. Scientists are working on a new pill that it is going to be used by men. The recent tests on mice have shown positive results; decrease in sperm count and temporary infertility. But the effects on humans are yet unknown. Parallel to this some doctors affirm that there is a need for such pill because “the lack of it has contributed to the number of unplanned pregnancies.” (read full piece of News here!)

The investigation, however, does not refer to the STDs (Sexually Transmitted Diseases). It may be the case that a man who’s taking the pill has sexual intercourse with a woman who has AIDS and he does not wear a condom trusting that avoiding pregnancy is more important. In this hypothetical case taking a simple pill will not prevent him from getting that STD.

For this reason I think that it will be necessary to educate men about the use of the pill before marketing it. Men will have to be aware that the pill will keep you from having a baby, but not from getting a STD. Both condom and pill will be recommended, don’t forget!

Are you attractive?

Oral Contraceptives react on women’s bodies provoking different effects. There are experts who say that they may produce cancer, and others who affirm that they decrease our sexual impulse... How true is that?

Look at the pictures and choose the face you like the most... Which one do you prefer? A or B? 

Feminized man (A) v/s Masculine man (B)

According to the research conducted by Robert Josephs, the election of “A” is guided by the consumption of contraceptives and the influence they have on our hormones. Women who use this method like better feminized men (A), who are those with small jaw and forehead, high eyebrows and rounded lips; rather than masculine men (letter B), whose attributes are a big jaw, wide forehead, low eyebrows and thin lips. 

Don’t worry, taking the pill doesn’t mean that you won’t like a “macho men” ever again. The thing is that it helps to control the fluctuation of hormones during your cycle, stabilizing your emotions; that is to say, a woman who does not use a contraceptive method changes her opinion while her hormones rise and decrease (they chose “A” during the menstruation, and “B” during the ovulation); on the other hand, medicated women prefer A most of the time.

Even though birth control pills revolutionized women’s life, they are one of the biggest responsible for changing the old masculine beauty standards, creating a whole new concept (think about the new idols, such us Zack Efron, Justin Bieber, etc). The illusion of a rude man with lots of testosterone is in the past; nowadays, a soft, gentle guy is more attractive to our quiet hormones since he also projects a sensitive appearance which also makes our “hormones” believe that he would be a perfect father and partner. Evolution is always there!

I asked some friends and incredible their answers were according to their reality; I mean, those who use the pill voted for A and B was the election of those who do not use this method.

Birth Control Pill for Men (Video Presentation)

As we are all adults, we are aware of the risk of having a sexual intercourse without protection --especially if we don’t want to face the consequences.

Contraception methods are well-known, but most of them are for women; so, what about men? Condoms and vasectomy are some options, but what if men could take a pill just like women do? This is the purpose of our presentation and we want you to think about it.

Would you be willing to take pills as a contraception method, considering that it is not so invasive than women’s pills contraception? Would you want your sexual partner to take them? Take into account the synthetics hormones present in women’s pills.
